significant growth and success with our support.

Industrial Supply Company

This JZJ client is an exporter of chemical products used in soil stabilization. JZJ began working with the company in the fall of 2019, as a referral from EXIM Bank, and assisted them in developing and submitting an EXIM Multi-Buyer trade credit insurance policy.

Given EXIM Bank’s requirement of U.S. content and export shipment from the U.S., along with the complexity of a pending transaction, the client needed JZJ’s guidance to ensure that proper coverage would be in place.

Working with an Italian buyer on a highway construction project, our client was confronted with ports closing January 2020 in Italy due to the pandemic and the ship date was rescheduled for July.  With market conditions changing due to the pandemic, the private sector offer was withdrawn.

JZJ advised them to require letters of guarantee to strengthen their credit underwriting and returned to EXIM to seek coverage which was finalized in March.  JZJ worked with EXIM to insure the portion of the credit representing US content.  JZJ also advised them on creating an entity in Spain, as an additional named insured, from which the final shipment could be made to comply with European Union requirements.

In 2023, our client was working to supply a Canadian mining entity that was seeking credit terms.   The cover requested was difficult to underwrite.  JZJ worked closely with them to provide support needed to gain approval.

With 2023 EXIM sales increased to $1.9 million compared to their $55,000 total for 2022, JZJ further worked with this client to ensure adequate coverage based on their sales growth.

Wholesale Popcorn Company

This JZJ client is a popcorn supplier that has exported popcorn products worldwide for over 40 years.  JZJ employees worked with the client’s team for a decade prior to the creation of JZJ Insurance Services and were pleased to continue working with them since the forming of JZJ Insurance Services.

While this client is experienced with their years of exporting, JZJ is still involved in assisting to broker their annual renewals and general assistance.  Policies must be administered correctly to support successful exporting.  This means trouble-shooting the transactions and underwriting, ensuring that the exporter understands what’s required by the policy contract, questioning that proper documentation is maintained, including proper reporting of shipments and past dues, and adequate bespoke coverage.  Through JZJ’s continued support in these areas, this client has grown their export sales with their EXIM policy from $1.4 million when JZJ began 2019 to $3.9 million in 2023.

In 2024, they were the recipient of EXIM Bank’s Exporter of the Year.

Metal Processing Company

This JZJ client is a family-owned company founded in 1986, which has grown into a global leader in non-ferrous metal trading and processing.  Their first policy held through JZJ was with EXIM Bank.

In March of 2020, they expressed interest to JZJ in increasing their sales through a processing warehouse located in India.   Such an endorsement took careful investigation and preparation.   JZJ worked with them to obtain numerous details for discussions with EXIM underwriters to accomplish obtaining the appropriate coverage through an Overseas Warehouse Coverage Endorsement in June of 2020.   This additional coverage helped the client’s annual exports through EXIM increase from $7.4 million in sales in 2020 to $12.3 million in 2021.

By 2022, our client increased sales brought them to JZJ to discuss migrating from their EXIM policy to a private sector policy to further increase export finance options.  JZJ assisted in preparing an application to market their portfolio to private sector insurers, where they accepted a policy offered by Atradius.  With Atradius, they could continue to increase sales opportunities beginning at $14.5 million in the first year of the policy and insure shipments previously ineligible through EXIM cover.

Hardwood flooring company

This JZJ client is a family-owned company that manufactures high-quality hardwood and synthetic floors (vapor barrier and vinyl graphics) for a wide variety of commercial applications. They has been in business for more than 120 years and is a founding member of the maple flooring association.

JZJ Insurance Services has worked with this client since April 2019, continuing broker work and a relationship begun with International Risk Consultants (IRC) in 2008. In 2020, they were the recipient of EXIM Bank’s Exporter of the Year.

This client submitted a claim to EXIM Bank in 2023.  They were working with a buyer to collect unpaid debt and missed the claim filing deadline, resulting in EXIM denying the claim.  JZJ wrote an appeal letter to the EXIM Claims Reconsideration Committee, outlining the circumstances that led to the missed claim filing deadline.  Following review of the case by EXIM’s upper management, the claim denial was overturned, and the payment was made to the client.

Oil Field Service Company

This JZJ client is a fully integrated oil field service company that specializes in plugging and abandonment services.  As a result of their sales to oil fields in the Middle East, they were referred to JZJ Insurance by an existing client in the same industry.

They had a portfolio that was too small to insure through private sector insurance but difficult for EXIM due to the concentration of country and buyer risk. JZJ worked with them and EXIM to mitigate the risk and put a policy in place.  Rapid sales growth exceeded the scope of the policy and JZJ worked with them and EXIM to accommodate the growth and support the client’s credit facility with their lender.
